EVERYONE.jpg

After a sold-out work-in-progress screening at the Film Arts Foundation Festival of Independent Cinema, we’ve tweaked the film to near perfection, and it should be finished December 2007. A miraculous feat, given everyone’s load of project and career leaps.

"Back Issues", a short comedy written & directed by CFWMN editor Jonathan Parra and starring many "Come Fly With Me Nude" alumni (Stephen Pawley, Duane Shirmer, Todd Pickering, and Robert Anthony Peters), premiered at the Film Festival at Comic Con (in San Diego) on July 26 this year. Please visit www.myspace.com/backissuesmovie to see pix & learn more.

The composer of the score for the stage and screen versions of "Come Fly With Me Nude", Patrick Bowsher, has been working pretty non-stop in Los Angeles, and for our own selfish reasons we’re hoping his commitment to Hollywood doesn’t become a permanent one.

Todd Pickering and yours truly just finished writing a sitcom pilot based on the feature film "Come Fly With Me Nude" (yes, we are still milking it!), and it’s pretty bleeping funny. It’s no longer the Dom & Bella story; now an ensemble piece Think "Friends" meets "Tales of the City". It’s been entered in the Slamdance/FoxTV pilot teleplay contest, so fingers crossed!

Always remember, it’s better to regret doing something than not doing something. Now get out there and run with scissors!

Oxymoron: “Come Fly With Me Nude” on reality TV!

You can now view (and rate. And review) the trailer for “Come Fly With Me Nude” on the site for "On The Lot" (http://www.thelot.com), a new filmmaker reality TV show created by Mark Burnett & Steven Spielberg. Which makes me a contender to be a contestant on this show. The thought is mortifying, but as they say, there’s no such thing as bad publicity. Even at the risk of loosing all dignity; one must do what one must do.

So please don’t be shy: take a moment to watch, & start talkin’! Click NOW and cast your vote! You’ll have to do some signup / registration stuff, but then you’ll have access to my blog and those of other rising filmmakers… and have insight to the utter crap we talk about! What fun!

Totally unrelated note: a film I acted in this year, "Little Bruno", is off to a tremendous start! It’s gotten into several US festivals, and will be screened at Cannes!!! I’m dying to see the finished project myself; it’s sort of a "Goodfellas" with a little "Friday the 13th" mixed in. Serious.

Thank you, and Happy Holidays!

Cheers–

Diane K.

MOVIE CLOSE UP TELEVISION INTERVIEW

Dom & Bella — or rather, Todd & I — are looking forward to doing our first television interview in almost a year. This time we’ll be the guests on Bonnie Steiger’s Movie Close Up, on San Francisco Public Access Channel 29. We’ve been invited to talk about — what else — Come Fly With Me Nude, which is this close to being finished. The show airs Wednesday, September 7 at 7:30 - 8:00pm PST.

AT THE SAN FRANCISCO APPLE STORE: "MADE ON A MAC : COME FLY WITH ME NUDE"

In other news, we’ll be doing a presentation at the San Francisco Apple Store (Stockton Street, just north of Market) on Thursday, September 15, 6:00 - 7:00pm. It’s part of their "Made On A Mac" series, and we’ll tell how we used our Macs in preproduction, production, and postproduction of Come Fly With Me Nude. Technology guru (and the film’s writer/co-director/director of photography) Dan Gomes will be there to talk serious computer speak to all the tech-heads out there. And I’ll be there for the rest of you who want to know in plain English how a Mac can make every step of filmmaking 100 times easier. To download a PDF of the information covered, click here.

A Movie Producer’s work… it just never ends.

You know, being an independent feature film producer is hard work. I recently went to LA to schmooze, press the flesh, blah blah blah. And let me tell you, it was exhausting.

Thank God my special friend Angus Oblong hosted a poolside BBQ during my stay. It was some much needed R&R, and I find myself already blissfully slipping into the LA habit of speaking in acronyms wherever possible. Here I am having some fun in the sun with future Hollywood Heavyweight Nate Weinstein and Lisa "They’re Real" Hurley.
